Post the Fifty-Second or Barren

Barren

Like the unforgiving expanse

of the Sahara

Or the punishing reaches

of Everest

I am barren

I will never conceive

Children

And I can’t help but resent

Those women whose

Wombs

Bellies

Bodies

Are so full of life

Verdant and vivacious

Fecund with the promise

Of new Life

Of endless opportunities

And yet

I am giving birth everyday

To Notions

Emotions

Sensations

Creations

Conveyed through poetry

My mind

My soul

Fecund with the promise of a changed world
